Overview
Mysterious god of death, a four-armed human-like creature dressed in black robes; two arms act as humans do, and two hold the chains which bind the dead to the world beyond. Tralados is not an evil god of death, but a neutral guardian of the dead from the living. The dead must pass through Tralados' gateway before heading to their final resting places. Tralados' marriage to Alia is one of the few exceptions to his typically enigmatic behavior.
Depiction
The mysterious god of death is depicted as a human-like creature, dressed in black robes, with four arms; two to act as humans do, and two to hold the chains which bind the dead to the world beyond. All persons who die must first pass through Tralados' gateway before heading to their respective final resting places.
Just as death claims both good and bad, Tralados is not seen as an "evil" god of death, but a neutral guardian of the dead from the living, and vice versa. (He is more like the Norse Heimdall.)
Tralados is often depicted in the company of a white wolf who, it is said, guards the gates to the worlds beyond.
Tralados' marriage to Alia is one of the few exceptions to his typically enigmatic behavior.
Theology and Practice
Some Traladosian clergy sew two cloth "arms" to their fronts of their clothing to look like Tralados. Most folk consider Traladosian priests "creepy" but necessary, as the priests are sought out to either communicate with the dead or to exorcise a ghost (return the restless spirit to the land of the dead).
Traladosian doctrine views undead as abominations of Tralados' law. Undead-banishing spells are favored.
