“The Divine Wind”
Continuing Game 132

War makes strange bedfellows, and few in recent memory have been stranger than the alliance between the Crusader nations of eastern Hesket and the Yamamotoan colony at Seiguntou, against whom many of those same Hesketine kingdoms fought in another war only fifteen years earlier. But the growing unholy menace in Bilgosh seeks to extend its claws across the face of the world, and these disparate peoples have found common cause against Emilian’s forces. A treaty has been struck between Allondell, Chardreau, and Seiguntou, in which Yamamotoan arms and support will be given to the Crusaders.

The first test of these weapons, and of the alliance itself, approaches. For the past several months, not a single Crusader ship has managed to make landfall on the Bilgosh coast; many have sent word that they successfully ran the gauntlet of Marakh and Kiljuk raiders, only to fall silent thereafter. Rumors have spread that a Dark Lady has taken up residence in a lighthouse on the southern coast, and possesses some way of destroying any ship that passes the tower. Breaching this tower and destroying the Dark One’s grip on the region will be Hesket's preliminary trial of the Yamamotoan magical weaponry. So much is rumored both among the troops and farther afield. Some, however, know more. Notices have been sent out:

A select force is wanted to support allied experts in a surgical strike against Bilgosh. Volunteers will be selected for this mission from among the Crusading armies, and among brave independent fighters of impeccable reputation. A wide range of skills will be required for this task in addition to combat prowess and magical might: knowledgeable sages and infiltration specialists will have an important place in the strike force. The vessel transporting the volunteer force will make landfall along the Kiljuk coast, whereupon the strike team will travel overland into Bilgosh territory. Speak with your unit commander if you are interested in volunteering for this assignment.
