“The Copper Kettle 3: Crossroads”
Continuing Game 134

Winter will soon wane, and with the advent of spring will come a renewal of military campaigning. The soldiers and knights in the Crusade are starting to advance back toward the front lines, returning from safer soil into Bilgosh to renew their struggle against Overlord Emilian and the Dark Lords who serve him.

Behind those front lines, in the neighboring Steinlands, sits a small village tavern called the Copper Kettle. It is in places such as this, along the trade roads, where crusaders, merchants, and visitors stop in for a drink, a meal or a room. There, they will carouse, gamble... and plan. Some have exciting tales to tell of victories; others of great losses, be they martial or personal.

War has changed the village around the tavern -- sometimes for the better, often for the worse. While some have found great opportunities in the rapid change, others have had to weather the scarcity of goods, the influx of wounded, the spread of disease. Many are just trying to keep their lives as normal as they can, trying to arrange a marriage or pay a bill.

The people who pass through and stop at the Copper Kettle often have difficult choices to make. So do the people who live near it. Tonight, they’ll all be there, maybe hoping to spend an hour with a drink or a song or a story, something to keep their spirits light.
