Character Templates
Now that you have an idea of how characters work, maybe you'd like some help with a starting point for your skills. What skills would be a good idea? Below are lists of skills that fit some common character types. All of these will fit into your starting 14 points.
Remember, these are just guidelines! You can tweak and modify them all you like.
Soldier, Warrior
- Weapon Skill 1212
- any one of these skills: Exceptional Strength, Immunity to Poison, Rapid Healing, or Superior Clotting 2
Option: Reduce Weapon Skill to 9. Add two of the above skills, and add Brawling 1.
Scout, Ranger, Forester
- Weapon Skill 6 6
- Stealth 2 4
- Awareness 2 2
- Lore 2 2
Option: Replace the Awareness or the Lore or one level of Stealth with one of the following: Exceptional Strength, Immunity to Poison, Rapid Healing, or Superior Clotting.
Option: For an eagle-eye, replace Lore 2 with two more levels of Awareness.
Mage, Wizard, Sorcerer
- Mage Initiation 1
- Mage 4 12
- Will 1 or Lore 1 1
Option: For a more scholarly wizard, replace "Mage 4, and Will 1 or Lore 1" with "Mage 3, Will 1, and Lore 3."
Priest, Monk, Nun, Friar, Clergy
- Cleric Initiation 1
- Cleric 4 12
- Will 1 or Lore 1 1
Option: For fighting clergy, replace Cleric 4 with Cleric 2 and Weapon Skill 6.
Option: Add First Aid and one of these disadvantages: Peaceful, Law-Abiding, Charity, or Honesty.
Alchemist, Herbalist
- Wealth 2 2
- Alchemy 4 10
- Lore 2 or Poisons 2 2
Option: For a physicker or surgeon, add First Aid and Peaceful.
Sage, Scholar
- Sage 3.5
- Cleric Initiation or Mage Initiation 1
- Cleric Magic 3 or Mage Magic 3 9
- Awareness 1 or Will 1 1
- any one of these disadvantages: Peaceful, Cowardice, Phobia, Law-Abiding, Honesty, or Gullibility -0.5
Option: Replace Awareness or Will with either Wealth 1, Traps 1 or Poisons 1.
Bard, Minstrel, Diplomat
- Persuasion 2 3
- Lore 2 2
- Weapon Skill 9 9
Option: For a silver tongue, replace Weapon Skill 9 with Weapon Skill 6 and two more levels of Persuasion.
Option: For a more knowledgeable character, reduce Persuasion to 1 and replace Lore with Sage.
Rogue, Thief, Criminal
- Weapon Skill 6 6
- Stealth 3 6
- Locks 2 or Traps 2 or Poisons 2 2
Merchant
- Lore 2 2
- Wealth 2 2
- Persuasion 2 3
- Weapon Skill 6 6
- Awareness 1
Option: Replace Weapon Skill 6 and Awareness with Cleric or Mage Initiation, and either Cleric 2 or Mage 2.
Church Knight, Paladin
- Weapon Skill 12 12
- Cleric Initiation 1
- Status: Social Distinction* 1
- Wealth 1* 1
- any two of these disads: Law-Abiding, Honesty, Peaceful, or Charity -1
* Note that these skills are required to play a knight, and that Status requires prior approval; contact the CG Game World Chair before the event.
Option: Replace Weapon Skill 12 with Weapon Skill 6 and Cleric 2.
