Overview

Goddess of the hearth, family, childrearing, and simple mirth. She is depicted as a middle-aged woman holding a distaff in one hand and an egg in the other. In legends, she acts as a mother-figure to the often childish (and neglected) Kintaka. She protects homes and houses, and thus is commonly invoked at mealtimes and toasted as banquets. Perinnia is not necessarily passive and can be quite formidable when she, her household, or those she protects are threatened.

Depiction

The goddess of the hearth, home, and family is depicted as a middle-aged woman holding a distaff in one hand and an egg in the other, from a parable about how a bird sitting patiently on an egg is like a mother patiently rearing her children.

Perinnia is married to Brinnig. In legends, she acts as a mother-figure to the often childish (and neglected) Kintaka.

Theology and Practice

While less important to adventurers and soldiers (like the PCs), Perinnia is a goddess much beloved by the average peasant. As the protector of homes and houses, and she is commonly invoked at mealtimes.

Perinnia is not necessarily passive and can be quite formidable when she, her household, or those she protects are threatened. Some sects are pacifist, while others arm themselves to better protect a household. Either way, Perinnians tend to use harmful spells only in defense.

Perinnian clergy are predominantly female. They often take vows of charity, and the church gives regularly to families in need.
